Journey to North of Kenya

Marsabit county is in northern Kenya, Its one of the driest places in kenya and is home to Charbi desert. It borders county of Wajir in the east, Ethiopia to the north, Lake Turkana in the west and Maralal to the south west with Isiolo county to the south.

Its home to Marsabit national park, Losai National reserve, Turbi forest, Mt Kulal biosphere reserve and Sibiloi national park.

I did take a tour of the Marsabit district where i was in a team that was conducting and reaching out to members of Kenya police Sacco……they are police officers.

They are the unsung warriors of the police force, they face the most brutal working conditions, face grave dangers in their work stations, harsh climates, limited resources and yet they remain royal to their calling and wear broad smiles, approaching each day with extra-ordinary optimisim and stoicism.

I was humbled by these brave men who work hard and tirelessly to keep their families fed, clothed and their children schooled. They live to their slogan and moto….”UTUMISHI KWA WOTE.” i.e service to all.

May God Bless the brave police officers who serve in the “operation” areas.

  • A landrover, this are mostly available to government officers.
  • Toyota Land cruiser, this is the king of the desert ride. Tough, enduring and reliable (but it got to be a new one, otherwise there are no sparepart shops there)

Toyota land cruiser was our choice:
